I thought I heard Wilkow say that BP gave Obama 'almost a million dollars' in his last campaign... That doesn't seem to be true. I'm left wondering what obscure, unverified source he used this time... |

I think I caught part of this, marnesdad. If it was the same you heard, I believe that he was referring to the National Border Patrol Council being affiliated with the AFL-CIO. I believe he said that the AFL gave a ton of $$$ to Obama's campaign. And he wanted to know how the AFL planned to support one of their affiliates which is under attack (in effect) by Mexico, with the acceptance of this administration. I believe that conflict of interest was the point, as well as the fact that it'll be a cold day in hell before you hear the AFL launch a broadside at Obama and Calderone. BTW, the was also that union, anymore, exist mainly for the purpose of relieving members of their $$$. |

Excuse that last garbled line. It's supposed to say "BTW, the point was also that unions, anymore, exist mainly for the purpose of relieving members of their $$$". |

No... he was talking about BP (British Petroleum) because he was talking about the oil spill, and then went immediately into cap and trade, which BP supports... |

Once a government pet, BP now a capitalist tool ------------------------------- BP was a founding member of the U.S. Climate Action Partnership (USCAP), a lobby dedicated to passing a cap-and-trade bill. As the nation’s largest producer of natural gas, BP saw many ways to profit from climate legislation, notably by persuading Congress to provide subsidies to coal-fired power plants that switched to gas. ----------------------------------------- http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/politics/Once-a-government-pet-BP-now-a-capitalist-tool-95942659.html |

Obama Biggest Recipient of BP Cash ------------------------------------ While the BP oil geyser pumps millions of gallons of petroleum into the Gulf of Mexico, President Barack Obama and members of Congress may have to answer for the millions in campaign contributions they’ve taken from the oil and gas giant over the years. ------------------------------------- BP and its employees have given more than $3.5 million to federal candidates over the past 20 years, with the largest chunk of their money going to Obama, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. Donations come from a mix of employees and the company’s political action committees — $2.89 million flowed to campaigns from BP-related PACs and about $638,000 came from individuals. --------------------------------- http://www.commondreams.org/headline/2010/05/05-2 |

Sorry.... but 'Common Dreams' is doing nothing but 'dreaming' if they think their numbers are 1) correct, and 2) From the 'Center for Responsive Politics'... Here's the actual numbers regarding BP contributions (from the actual 'Center for Responsive Politics -- numbers from the FEC).... BP has given only $6.2 million to campaigns in the past 20 years, with an overwhelming amount of it going to REPUBLICAN campaigns (71%). In the 2008 campaign, BP gave only $531,000 to candidates, with 60% of that going to REPUBLICAN campaigns. These totals include BOTH individuals and PACs... The statements above from 'Common Dreams' are false... |

I guess it comes down to what source you take your information from! I'll go with what has been posted elsewhere that SAYS BP has dumped the LARGEST amount of $$$$ to Obama's campaign. Smarmy - crawl back into the hole from which you came! Renovomedia, Reuters, the list goes on! How about the FREE (smarmy that means you get it w/o having to PAY for it) DC apartment that Rahm "Deadfish" Immanuel is using - which is OWNED by a BP person! |

As usual.... don't let the facts get in the way of your mindless rants.... |

"The statements above from 'Common Dreams' are false..." is just your opinion. You give no evidence that the numbers are false. "The statements above from 'Common Dreams' are false....", so the comments from the washingtonexaminer are true? Funny how there is no acknowledgement whether my first debunk is true or false. I am right and just ignored, just like Michael Savage is right and is ignored. This is too easy. Dead thread. Next. |

Good God..... Educate yourself already... http://www.opensecrets.org/orgs/summary.php?id=D000000091 You people MUST be trying to remain ignorant... there's no other logical explanation. |

First day online marnesdad? Getting frustrated that someone can be more of a dickhead than you over the internet. 'Common Dreams' is false because you said so. "MUST be trying to remain ignorant", lol @ trying to change someones way of life through a forum. Again, what a douche bag. This thread was created because? Because you didn't call Andrew himself and you already know all the answers before you even entered your first post of the thread. You would need the attention. |

If it's not a bs thread he creates, it's one he'll kill by totally changing the subject! smarmy there's enough info out there (maybe you're just too IGNORANT to see it) that We are Right and YOU are wrong, BP has paid MAJOR amounts of $$$ to Obama and you're just too damn ignorant to admit it! |

Try this, per Reuters: Over the past 20 yrs. BP has given over $3.5 million to FEDERAL political campaigns. The largest part to anyone over that span has been Obama; he got $77, 051 from BP while a senator and during his presidential run. Reuters also reports that Mary Landrieux (D-Louisiana) is the top congressional recipient of BP cash last cycle, and that she is one of the two top BP cash recipients over the past 20 yrs. She received $17,000 in '08 alone, and $28,000 overall. She has also received personal contributions from ranking BP officials. |

Thanks, Nav... perhaps you too can laugh at Wilkow when he keeps saying over and over again that Obama has taken "almost a million dollars from BP".... 99% of the $77,051 Obama received came from EMPLOYEES of BP... |
