Palin is attractive as a candidate, at first glance. I am dead set against her running for either president or vice president. That would be conducting another glamour contest, and we don't need another one of those. Look what we got with the last political rock opera. Palin needs to pull at least one full term as a senator or some such. She simply does not have the depth in foreign affairs that she needs, although I think her instincts are correct. Christy would be a breath of truly fresh air, but I also believe that right now he might not be electable. But in two years? I suspect Obama will have left such a trail of stink behind him by then that it may take someone like Chrisy to start cleaning it up.

Christie is unelectable because he's still a relative unknown outside New Jersey. Even in Jersey, he's known more as 'not-Corzine' than he is Chris Christie... He's saying the right things, and if he shows actual progress in a backward state like New Jersey, he'll be quite a candidate someday... Palin is a zero--a party joke--and embarrassment to anyone serious about America... of course, that doesn't mean she's a bad person...

Palin has what is political death - common sense, expressed in a common sense way. I think she would likely do considerably better than Obama at domestic policy. But foreign policy is what's driving us and the world, although there seem to be those who don't attribute to it the importance that it deserves. She needs seasoning in that area. Obama's lack of experience, plus a VERY flawed world view, is hurting us badly.

"Palin has what is political death - common sense, expressed in a common sense way. I think she would likely do considerably better than Obama at domestic policy. " In the most polite way I can say this, I think you are high. Palin and 'common sense' have never met. She's a goofball, and her rudimentary knowledge of politics took her as high as she was ever going to go... And that was Alaska, folks... To suggest that all Palin needs on foreign policy is 'seasoning' makes me laugh uncontrollably... and people are starting to stare...

Spoken like a good pseudo intellectual, marnesdad. The "goofball" did a good job in her elected positions so far, and her common sense was evident. The dismissal of her as a goofball, and the slur on Alaska are about what I'd expect. She's nothing like those terribly smart Hahvahd Men and Yalies that have given us one foul up after another. I think if we coud put those bright boys to the side for a few years and raise up some more of your "goofballs", we'd be much better off. Of course, our foreign policy is going SO well under Obama. Talk about common sense never meeting up with someone; he's never been in the same state as common sense.

No slur on Alaska, with its population roughly the size of an average US city... She was a sportscaster, a mayor of a town the size of good size apartment building in New York, and the governor of the most meaningless (politically, relax...) state in the Union. I call her a 'goofball' because I heard her speak. Perhaps you've been so enamored with her folksiness that you haven't actually heard her try to put two sentences together without a script? As for you putting Palin versus Obama, we did that already.... And she was rightfully rejected.

Here's what Palin babbled when asked what she thought of the $700 billion bailout in 2008 -- "That’s why I say, I, like every American I’m speaking with, we’re ill about this position that we have been put in, where it is the taxpayers looking to bailout. But ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the healthcare reform that is needed to help shore up our economy, helping the—oh, it’s got to be all about job creation, too, shoring up our economy and putting it back on the right track. So, healthcare reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions and tax relief for Americans. And trade, we have—we’ve got to see trade as opportunity, not as a competitive, scary thing, but one in five jobs being created in the trade sector today. We’ve got to look at that as more opportunity. All those things under the umbrella of job creation. This bailout is a part of that." ..... Like I said... 'goofball'. We were just lucky that we dodged that one...

"Christie is unelectable because he's still a relative unknown outside New Jersey" well hell look what we got in the WH now - he was an unknown too! WTF does that have to do with anything? Oh that's a rhetorical question smarmy - you don't need to answer because anything out of your mouth is fodder!

Palin's role is not to run. She is a shield bearer. She takes the arrows the Progressives shoot at her while other candidates do their jobs. She takes the heat while other female conservatives run for office. Marnes, you are going to see a hayseed if they come from anywhere "folksy". Biden makes Palin look like a genius. Biden just hides it by being a flaming a-hole. Marnes, this might come as a shock to you but most politicians (especially on the left) don't know a damn thing about the Constitution or economics. There are people on this board and others who seem to know more about Constitutional and economic issues. Is Palin one of them? Probably, is she learning. It seems to me she is. Guess what? Obama can't learn this stuff. His Alinsky training paired with Marxism won't let him. Obama is an agitator. Just like a community organizer. He needs to agitate and create an enemy to get things done. Unfortunately, it's appearing that the majority of Americans are his enemy.

Drew-- and George Bush was a war monger, a liar, he stole the presidency, he trashed the Constitution, he made up the rules as he went...yada, yada, yada... Yet, we somehow survived.... C'mon.. Obama doesn't have any more 'Alinsky training' than I do, and, even if he did, what the hell does it have to do with him now? This Alinsky thing makes me laugh -- it's like these wannabe business execs running around quoting the Art of War -- they can make ANY facet of business 'come from' the friggin Art of War... Obama waves with his left hand and these tiny mouthpieces run around screaming 'Obama's pulling an Alinsky!!!!' Ridiculous.... Palin is a dope. If you honest to God think that she is, or ever was, in the same league with Obama, McCain, etc, then there's not much more I can say....

Palin's a dope. Right. While Mr. Oh So Smart is increasing our debt by leaps and bounds for goals that are "progressive" (LOL!). That includes his dogged determination to emmulate some of the European quasi-socialist practices, practices for which they are now having to pay the bill for and which they are increasingly warning Obama about. Smart. You bet. Let's seek something that is failing, and copy it. Alinsky, shminsky. Whoever and whatever. Obama's an inexperienced, overeducated fool. He couldn't lead his way out of a paper bag, wet or dry.

Wow, Nav... you spew talking points just like they were real facts... I especially like how you (and Wilkow) always use such broad descriptions like 'increasing our debt by leaps and bounds' instead of actual numbers (like 52.03% of what Bush added to the debt). Also emulating 'some of the european quasi-socialist practices' is much better than trying to name some... You don't like Obama, I don't like Palin... the only difference is that I'm giving you a real argument.
