Another subject Wilkow should read up on before using on his show. For starters, no one who buys a Camaro today is in trouble five years down the road due to CAFE standards, as Wilkow suggested yesterday. CAFE standards apply to the current model year, so future higher standards have nothing to do with the car you buy today... Nor is there any danger of fans of the Camaro being driven off due to CAFE standards, as the 1973 Camaro, before CAFE standards, got about 15 mpg with a 275hp V8, and today's Camaro gets about 22 mpg with a 426hp motor. The point is that the car industry -- and even the muscle car industry -- adapts quite nicely. |
